چکیده
A vertical take-off and landing plane (VTOL plane) is a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (FWUAV) configuration with the ability to take off land vertically. It combines benefits of multirotor configurations, which gives it high cruising range independence from runway. This requires arms as mountings for VTOL’s motors. study discusses design VTOL Plane various arm computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation was conducted find out performs best aerodynamically. The configurations analyzed were quad-plane, twin-tail boom, tandem wing, transverse arm. interpreted performances lift drag performances, stall conditions, flight efficiency, stability, maneuverability. relative wind directions toward longitudinal axis UAV, are sideslip angle attack, varied simulate flying conditions. results showed that twin tail-boom most advantageous based on performances.

A QTW VTOL UAV, featured tandem tilt wings and propellers mounted at the mid-span of each wing, is one of the most promising UAV configurations having both a VTOL capability and high cruise performance. A small prototype QTW UAV has been constructed to prove the concept and full transition between vertical and horizontal flight has been successfully demonstrated under remote manual control. The...
متن کاملHybrid Propulsion System Design of a VTOL Tailsitter UAV
Tailsitter UAVs with their combined vertical take off and landing (VTOL) and fixed-wing aircraft with full flightspeed regime capability provides a distinct alternative to rotary-wing and ducted fan UAVs (OAVs). ITU-BYU Tailsitter concept aims to obtain the energy efficient regimes across the VTOL and the cruising flight regimes. This paper describes the hybrid propulsion system design approach...
متن کاملControl of a VTOL UAV via Online Parameter Estimation
Due to their ability to hover and to fly “low and slow” VTOL UAVs are of extreme strategic importance. The task of control of VTOL UAVs is however complicated as they exhibit highly coupled nonlinear dynamics and inherent instability. These intricacies limit the performance of linear control techniques since a single linearized state space model represents only a limited part of the flight enve...
متن کاملNonlinear attitude and gyroscope's bias estimation for a VTOL UAV
This paper addresses the problem of attitude and heading restitution for a VTOL UAV. We describe an observation strategy to restitute the complete attitude matrix of the vehicle starting from Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and magnetometers. This study is a part of the development of the ducted fan UAV designed by Bertin Technologies. First, a measured orientation matrix is calculated from bot...
متن کاملVTOL UAV Altitude Flight Control Using Fractional Order Controllers ⋆
In this paper, a fractional order flight controller design scheme for the altitude control of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAV is presented. The altitude control system can be decoupled and identified as a simple first order plus time delay model under some constraints. Based on this identified model, the traditional modified Ziegler-Nichols PI controller can be designed. Meanwhile, the...
